The title, “The Multiplicity is the One,” refers to the metaphysical idea that everything in existence, living and nonliving, is interconnected. This piece was created from a larger body of work where I used the remaining misfit pieces and combined them into this abstract representation of all that is, including the self. I used the CMYK silkscreen method to print merged images of my late grandfather and myself. I intuitively cut the prints, collaged them, and stitched them together. My grandfather and I were born on the same day and I’ve always felt a connection to him. This process was intended help me grieve his death as well as reconnect with his spirit. It holds a tension of opposites and simultaneously unites them, creating a fluid, swirling, abstract representation of integration.
